Thank you Brady and thank you Market Square for such a great evening!

I rarely use Reddit other than to lurk on a few posts here and there lol but I felt the need to post about this. My wife and I have been running out of good places in town to actually get a quality cocktail and we decided to give market square lounge another visit after not going there for a while. We really could not have been more pleased with our time there. We had been skeptical to go back after hearing some not so great things about the owner and how he doesn’t care about the guest’s experiences, plays awful club music, etc. (which we’ve experienced firsthand in the past). This couldn’t have been further from our experience this time.

We went in the early evening and Brady was our bartender and my god was this kid good. He was so warm and welcoming to us (something that is severely lacking in the service industry in Tallahassee these days) and his knowledge of everything behind that bar was very impressive. They have an extensive cocktail menu, a lot of which are original recipes he created himself. My wife couldn’t decide what she wanted so he just made something up for her after he asked her a few questions about what she likes. He freaking nailed it every time! It reminded me a lot of how this place used to be when Adam worked there. We got three rounds of drinks, each one seemed to be better than the last, and the old fashioned he made for me was top notch. I also consider myself somewhat of a bourbon snob and he was able to answer all the questions I had about anything they had back there while making some phenomenal recommendations (they have an incredible bourbon selection if you’re into that).

The ambiance in there was really nice with some good chill music playing that didn’t drown out the conversations at all. Brady told us that he’s the manager there and has been working there for almost 5 years. I remember him being there when Adam used to work there, and my wife and I loved Adam. This kid reminded me a lot of him with his knowledge and skill. I assume that he learned a lot of what he knows from Adam given that he looks fairly young (probably mid to late 20’s). He was so kind to my wife and I, made us feel seen the whole time, and even though they were really busy we never felt like we were waiting for anything. He was incredibly fast with his cocktails and even more impressively he would have what I assume to be regulars’ drinks ready before they even walked in the door. There was an older gentleman working with him who may have been the barback but he was making drinks too and seemed to be really on the ball as well. I don’t know if they’ve had a change in ownership or if the owner just wasn’t there that night but we truly had a great time. If you’re looking for a great cocktail or a damn good glass of whiskey I would highly recommend you check out market square. I would assume that since he’s the manager he would be there most nights but if Brady is there, you’re gonna have a great experience. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed ourselves and we will definitely be back to see him. Well done Brady, and well done market square! You guys might’ve just found a couple new regulars.
