We moved into Vertex on Aug 16. Since day one: guest bedroom window won’t close (still not fixed, we’ve had it taped shut with cardboard), the washer has been broken, and we’ve been paying a monthly furniture fee for a sofa that was never delivered. Yesterday we found what looks like termite droppings. We’ve sent written notices; management’s answer is “pending parts” and that we’d owe a 60-day notice plus a ~$2,400 early termination fee if we want to leave.

We’ve already sent a 7-day notice under FL Statute 83.56 and want to make sure we do the rest correctly. Has anyone used a Tallahassee attorney for a lease/habitability issue who was reasonably priced and actually helpful? Also happy to hear from other Vertex residents dealing with the same things — we’re comparing notes. Thanks!
