So the NOAA winter outlook came out thursday and north florida is sitting in the darkest green on the precip map – something like 70%+ odds of a wetter than normal jan thru march, with what they’re calling maybe the strongest El Niño on record. Around Tallahassee that doesnt mean snow obviously, it means more of those overnight squall lines and tornado warnings at 2 in the morning… and we just got brushed by Isaias so believe me the summer stuff is still fresh. Heres what i’m changing before it starts!
Flood insurance first
We’re X zone and never bothered, which in hindsight… yeah. NFIP has a 30 day wait so if i want it in place by january im calling this week, not “”sometime””. Seriously get the quote now if your on the fence, 30 days goes by fast!!
The stuff that floods every time anyway
Gutters, the drain by the driveway that backs up every single storm, and getting the bins in the garage up onto the shelving instead of sitting on the floor like they have been since we moved in. Also need the tree guy for the big limb over our bedroom which should of been #1 on this list if im being real.
Power
We’ve got an Anker e10 from the spring, so mostly its just making sure storm guard is on so it charges up when theres a warning out instead of sitting at whatever it was at. Weather radio goes in the bedroom with fresh batteries too, because phone alerts are NOT waking me up at 2am!!
