Cop asking questions

So I have a family member that has apparently been getting into some criminal activity in the past few years. My family member was charged, arrested and did time for some of these crimes. For the past few weeks, there’s a detective investigating a new handful of crimes and they claim that my family member is their prime suspect. They have been relentlessly calling and badgering me for weeks to ask me to “identify” my family member in some photos that they have.

I know police have plenty of facial recognition technology and also, I know that the police don’t have to be sure it’s you to charge you if they truly want to. They could get someone else to confirm if the suspect is my family member. I feel weird about it but I don’t know why. I filed a police report against said family member earlier this year for a crime they committed against me and the police have yet to charge them or even follow up with me about my case. I know I probably sound like a snitch but my family member is actually very violent and dangerous and I don’t feel bad for calling them cops on them. However, something just feels strange about they way the detectives is relentlessly nagging at me specifically to help identify them in photos. I don’t know why it feels weird but it makes me uncomfortable. It feels almost spiritual in a way. It’s like I’m being tested or asked to do something that I’ll regret later. I mean, it’s literally no different than when I had to press charges on my family member for stealing jewelry and cash from my home, but something about this ordeal makes me feel like I should mind my business.

I don’t know guys. What do you all think? I know I haven’t committed a crime so that’s not what’s bothering me. I’m not afraid it’s a trap or anything. It’s almost like I’m scared they’re trying to see how much of a snitch I am. Do they target snitches? I’m not an arbitrary snitch. Could anything bad happen to me if I don’t help them? I only call law enforcement if someone puts their hands on me or steals my property and refuse to give it back. What would y’all do in my situation?
