Y’all, I’ve had it. Tonight is the final straw. What is the deal with Publix delis? Tonight I placed an order online for pick up with 30 mins of lead time. As luck would have it, they were behind on orders, and my sub wasn’t ready until almost an hour and a half later. Although I realize this was a particularly bad night for them, it is always an ordeal to get a pub sub at seemingly every location, even ordering ahead of time. Does anyone know why it takes them so long to make a sandwich? For context, I just order straight off the menu using Publix meat; I don’t do any customizations. I’ve ordered in person and online from different Publix locations around town and it’s always the same story: It takes them ten years to finish an order. The staff moves slow as Xmas like it’s their first day on planet earth and the their first time ever making a sandwich. I can’t stress enough that it’s like this at *every* Publix I’ve been to. Does management specifically train their staff to move as slow as possible? I worked at firehouse subs for two years, so I know what it’s like to work behind a deli counter. It takes Publix staff at least twice as long to make a sandwich than what we were trained to do even taking customizations into account. It’s extremely frustrating.
