| If environmental issues are a big concern for you, you’ll want to attend the Big Bend Environmental Forum (BBEF). BBEF focuses exclusively on candidate questions relating to our natural environment, sustainability, energy, and growth management. This year’s first event, held in advance of the primary election, is scheduled for TODAY, August 4, 2026, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the LeRoy Collins Public Library conference rooms A&B, 200 W. Park Avenue, Tallahassee. The candidates invited are those who have qualified for the Mayor and City Commission positions. The official question and answer session will be preceded by a candidate meet and greet with refreshments beginning at 5:15. A subsequent forum with a different panel of candidates will be held sometime in October preceding the November election – stay tuned.The League of Women Voters Tallahassee is a member of the Big Bend Environmental Forum along with other local environmentally oriented organizations that are committed to conserving the region’s environmental qualities through education, advocacy, research and, networking among its members. More information on the membership organizations and history of this alliance can be found at this site: BBEF.org. Many of these organizations, including the League, will have a table set up to answer any questions you may have. Since environmental concerns are always important in our Big Bend area, we encourage you to attend this valuable forum.
