Advice Needed! Elite Women’s Health & IUD Insertion

Hi!

I got an IUD inserted for the first time in Nov. 2025 in Connecticut at Planned Parenthood with a cervical block. The provider there kept hitting my nerves down there three times before successfully injecting the lidocaine. The procedure was still extremely uncomfortable, but the cramping afterwards was the worst I’ve ever had in my life. I was in their office for 3 hours just laying down trying to cope and I spent the entire night til bedtime (after midnight) curled in the fetal position, and I puked from the pain. As a result, I am super anxious about future endeavors with my IUD.

Today, I went to Elite to talk about an ultrasound I got to check on the position of the IUD. Dr. Kimberly Morphet was the one to inform me that it is out of place and we discussed replacing the IUD. I told her about my experience with the first IUD, told her exactly about the other provider hitting nerves. She said almost verbatim, “That shouldn’t have happened because there aren’t any nerves down there.” My stomach got real sick at that, big red flag. Doctor, there are in fact lots of branching nerves in and around the cervix. That is outdated info and the internet has taught me that doctors who still believe there aren’t any nerves are not good signs. I talked some more but I don’t remember exactly what else I said, but she basically repeated that there aren’t any nerves in the cervix, maybe not in those words precisely but… that’s exactly what I took away from it. I’m now extremely terrified!

I don’t feel good about having her do the replacement even though she kept trying to reassure me that she does it all the time and it goes perfectly fine for every other female she operates on. All I see are red flags about her… sort of… denial of my experience in Connecticut and what I’m PRETTY SURE was her repeating the outdated thing of “no nerves in cervix.”

Has anyone else had experience with Dr. Morphet at Elite? Better yet, have you gotten an IUD inserted with her, especially with a cervical block? Either I need some substantial reassurance or some confirmation of my fears lol. Send help 😭

Also, if I don’t go to her for it, where else should I go? I’ve been reading about other Gynos around tally and honestly it feels like there’s no place to go with confidence. 🙁
