Do Not Go to Allied Veterinary Hospital

Been here three times, on three separate occasions. I will never come back and would recommend everyone to go to Northwood no matter what. Allied happened to be the closer vet in all of the situations I had been in, but the extra 10 or 15 minutes to Northwood is absolutely worth it.

First time – watched them drop a dog having a seizure, then deny that.

Second time – found Deceased dog and brought her in for microchip check. The entire staff made faces like this: 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴 I get it, the sight is awful, but this is a professional setting. Me and strangers that also cared about the dog carried her into the exam room, only for the techs to keep coming in and making faces and saying things like, “what a strong smell.” Yeah… it’s a dead dog. Please treat us as strangers – and the body of this poor pup – with respect and professionalism.

When we all were discussing the option of cremation (we as strangers had to pay for it, which is unfortunate but I can understand that as we brought her in), the tech advised us to move the deceased dog to the waiting room? I have no idea why this would even be suggested. It’s not like they were super busy and needed the room. I thought the suggestion was inappropriate and asked if we still had to that even though we were literally footing the bill for cremation… she had to go ask for advice to someone else on this but came back and said, “I guess the dog can stay here”. Jesus Christ.

Third time – found a lost (alive!) dog. Waiting room completely empty when we came. Receptionist was bothered to get up and scan for microchip. The dog did end up having a chip and she told us to sit and wait for more information. We waited about 5 minutes until she called us back and said, “tried calling but no answer. Fyi, *WE* can’t keep her. She CAN’T stay here.” I had not even suggested that. No idea where the attitude started coming from. I asked if she could try again and she was reluctant.

I thought to myself, maybe this is really hard for some reason? No, it’s not.

After a crash out from both her and the manager Shanell, the receptionist decided to try calling the microchip number for the second time and it magically went through. The behavior exhibited by all of these grown adults was so ridiculous that I just asked for the microchip number myself and went ahead and called Northwood with the microchip number. Dog’s owner was located within the hour.

I know people have had good experiences with Allied (I don’t know anyone in person that has had a good experience there, but they seem to have some good online reviews), but I would never, ever recommend anyone go there. It’s actually like having teenagers manage a medical practice.

Northwood has been nothing but determined and experienced in all of my times going there or calling. Worth the drive.
