For many fans and industry watchers, 2026 is shaping up to be the “Year of Zendaya,” a moment where multiple defining chapters of her career are unfolding all at once. From major franchise finales to new creative risks, the actress stands at a pivotal crossroads that could ultimately cement her legacy in Hollywood.

Zendaya is an Emmy-winning actress, singer, and method-dressing icon, whose early career on Disney Channel has grown into a global household name.

For students and young audiences, that impact goes beyond entertainment. Shay Woodland, a fourth-year student, says Zendaya’s influence has been building for years, not just recently.

“When I think of the ‘Year of Zendaya,’ I think of her career. She’s been an icon since she was a teen,” she explained, pointing to her consistency across television, film, and fashion. “From movies to TV shows, she’s always been a moment.”

Zendaya’s role in “Dune: Part Three” marks one of the most significant milestones of the year. As the expected final installment in the critically acclaimed saga, the film not only concludes a massive cinematic journey but also solidifies her role within one of modern science fiction’s most influential franchises.

At the same time, the anticipated ending of Euphoria signals the close of another era. Zendaya’s Emmy-winning performance as Rue transformed her into one of the most respected young actresses of her generation. As the series wraps, questions emerge about how she will continue to challenge herself beyond a role that has become so culturally impactful.

“She has truly inspired me,” said Tavin Tim, a first-year student. “Coming from Disney and transitioning into bigger roles reflects a journey similar to going from high school into college and finding new ways to express yourself.”

Looking ahead, Zendaya is set to star in “The Drama” alongside Robert Pattinson, a project already generating buzz for its darker, more experimental tone. The film suggests a deliberate shift toward complex, character-driven storytelling, signaling her intent to expand her artistic range.

Beyond film and television, Zendaya’s connection to the “Spider-Man” franchise continues to keep her firmly in the blockbuster spotlight. Her ability to balance commercial success with critically acclaimed performances underscores her versatility.

Off-screen, Zendaya’s influence extends into fashion and representation.

Adriana Virgin, a first-year student, says Zendaya’s impact is deeply personal, especially when it comes to visibility and self-expression.

“She has always been influential in my life, personally seeing her always wear her natural curly hair unapologetically,” Virgin stated. “As a biracial woman, I now know it was good for me to see her wear her hair out like that or even in braids.”

That influence also shows up in fashion moments that resonate with fans. Shay pointed to Zendaya’s standout appearances, including her Cinderella-inspired Met Gala look, calling it memorable for “the transformation and the surprise of it all.” She also highlighted a recent premiere look as “chic and unique … she didn’t need any jewelry to stand out, it was just magnificent.”
