Tallahassee seems to have a ton of 5K races and I’ve never participated in one but I’d like to. I’m really new to things like that and I think I’d like to sign up with the reasonable expectation that I’ll be walking most of it, at least the first time. In my hometown there were always a ton of walkers attending, but when I volunteered at a race here for the animal shelter last year I don’t think I saw any walkers. Is that uncommon here? Might be a stupid question, but I get anxiety about people looking at me and I don’t want to be the only person walking and draw attention to myself. I want to work myself up to better times, then longer races eventually, I’m just not there yet. Any insight?
