The Leon County Sheriff’s office says 36-year-old murder suspect Andrew Wiley died in custody on Thursday.
Wiley had been in custody since April when he was arrested in the death of his daughter Lori Paige. 12-year-old Paige disappeared in 2023 sparking mass community searches in hopes of bringing her home. Wiley was charged with second degree murder after Paige’s remains were found in Thomas County, Georgia earlier this year.
According to LCSO’s release, the 36-year-old Wiley suffered a medical emergency. He was taken to the medical unit and treated. However, he died at approximately 5:36 p.m.
LCSO says all standard protocols for an in-custody death were being followed.
The Medical Examiners Office will conduct an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.
