Just thought i’d give fellow students the heads up on this in case you haven’t heard about it yet. This is going to save me a ton on shipping textbooks this year!

Kiddo stuff

He’s just over 2 and a half.

Thanks so much.

Playgroups, story times, puppet shows, anything.

Housing Available or Needed

I need to either find a roommate for my current home, or find a new place to live – to which end I present the following ads…

This is for a year lease, probably starting August 1st (though there may be some flexibility here if you need to move in earlier), it is for one of the rooms in a 2 bedroom townhouse. The room is massive(bigger than many entire apartments) and unfurnished, and includes a private bathroom with a shower. This is a townhouse with a non-traditional layout, it has a full kitchen, dining area, and spacious living room. There is already some furniture downstairs, but if you have some of your own I am sure room can be made for it. There is a small fenced yard. The price is $450 a month + 1/2 utilities (including internet). There is already a dog and a cat in residence – both are very friendly, if you have a single pet that is house trained we can discuss adding it to the household, though there are some restrictions. I am a grad student and would prefer a grad student or young professional, but am happy to hear from anyone who is interested. The residence is located in the neighborhood behind Logan’s on Appalacchee – very close to both the Capitol and FSU.

OR

I am a 30 yo female FSU grad student looking to sign a year lease for good sized room w/private bath in a home or apt, ideally near FSU campus. I am clean and quiet and always pay rent on time. I have an indoor cat that is house trained and a dog that is house and kennel trained. He stays in his kennel at all times a person is not with him and is quiet and non-destructive. I would prefer a place that has a fenced yard, but for the right place I am willing to compromise. I am laid back and easy going. I don’t drink, smoke or do drugs. I would like to either pay $550 all inclusive, or $450(or less) plus a share of utilities. But like I said, if you have something available and don’t mind the animals, I can be flexible in other areas. References available upon request.

Hey, my roomie is selling her awesome sofa chair (or chaise for you fancy types). I like to call it the vortex of comfort. I wish I had space in my new apt for it, cuz I’d buy it off her. But maybe one of you could use some nice furniture…

Hope everyone is having a good summer, but also not spontaneously combusting from the heat.

Dear loyal Livejournal users of Tallahassee,

I am trying to plan something for my 22nd birthday (next saturday) in Tallahassee that isn’t your usual night at Bull’s. I have to option of having a house party but it seems like less of a pain in the ass to just go out somewhere new. Here is where you come in: what’s a good unexpected place for a birthday celebration that is relatively low key?

Yes I checked the memories and did a little google research, please do not publicly flame me.

Incoming Students!

Hello there, FSU community.

This is my first post, so I’ll just try and put myself out there.

I’m currently entering my senior year in high school this mid-August, and after touring FSU this summer, it has somehow managed to become my first choice in colleges. I’ll be applying by the Oct. 5 deadline, and if that doesn’t work, then the Jan. 12. My first string of questions has to do with admissions: I’ve had a fairly high GPA and have taken honor courses and one ap class throughout my entire high school career. I’m a bit fearful, however, of my last semester, when I got a few Cs — though my GPA was still pretty high thanks to the AP course. Will this, combined with my decent ACT (top scores: R-29, E-27, M-23, S-23) be enough to get me in with scholarship money?

I’ve heard also that you can study abroad your first year and then pay In-state-tuition the next 3 years. I’m very interested in this. Do I contact FSU about this during the application process or after I’ve been accepted?

Also, I was wondering if there was any advice out-of-state students could give me? Just what to expect in Florida, living with a roommate, and classes at FSU. My first year I don’t what to go too crazy with partying, seeing as I do enough of that here. That being said, is there anything fun to do around town? I remember the campus had a ton of faculties open for the students, and I have to ask, are they as good as they look?
